Let's be honest, Disneyland is full of magical fun little corners to capture favorite moments, but it also can be so overwhelming when you have little ones in tow. As a documentary photographer, I adore Disneyland! I find absolute joy in following families through the parks and capturing their magical moments--moments that we as busy parents often miss. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite places to capture memories. So let's dive in as I tell you my 10 favorite spots and maybe you'll fall in love with these spots, too!

It's a Small World Wall

This magical little blue and white wall is such a fun place to capture photos. Spin, dance, or snuggle up to your favorite people up against the blue and white shapes for an extra fun pop. One of my favorite parts of this spot is that it is a cast door, also! So be prepared to see some of your favorites sneaking in and out. A lot of my clients get a special little private moment with their favorite characters.

The Tea Cups

If you're looking to capture so authentic deep-rooted joy look no further than the beloved tea cups! Something up spinning around and around makes us all become like kids again. Some of favorite moments happen here.

Dumbo Line

It's something about the deep blues, purples, and all of the bulb lighting that tends to create it's own sort of magic. It's a great spot for kiddos to be themselves. Let them play! Crouch down low and capture those beautiful colors and lights. This is the line that I allow myself to get on the kids level and try to see all the magic from their perspective.

Balloons

Disney no longer lets you hold the balloons, but don't let that stop you for capturing something magical. Get creative! The cast members are so helpful if you ask them to help you get a perfect shot. It's a win-win. You get the picture and your kiddos get their favorite balloon.

The Jungle Cruise

The deep greens of the forest and the water make such a fun backdrop for some really fun exciting moments. I've fallen in love with this ride. The drivers always do their best to bring out authentic joy in everyone on board.

Castle Moments

I've never known a person who doesn't love the castle. Take a moment to throw your babies high up in the air and capture that the magical colors against the blue sky. It's a great way to make moments stick deep into the heart of your kiddos.

Thunder Mountain

I leave this ride laughing hysterically while capturing these images. You never know what kind of reactions that you're going to get with kids and adults alike. My clients often leave the ride wanting to do it all over again just to experience the thrill. This ride is a great way to capture authentic joy and sometimes comedic moments.

Gibson Girl Ice Cream

Head on down to Main Street and grab yourself an ice cream cone. Who doesn't like a good ice cream. Take a seat on the curb and let joy (and messes) unfold.

Dinner Moments

Even after long days in the park, the magic doesn't end at meal times. These moments make for great connection times as families relax. One of of my favorite sessions at Disneyland happened here at this table. Wrestling match, a surprise magic show performed by dad, character sightingsand toddlers climbing across tables. The magic will always find you.

The Lines

The hidden magic is in the lines. In boredom you will find playful moments that really tell the story of you family. Disney does such a wonderful job at detail. There are magnificent and beautiful details everywhere. I think we get so caught up in trying to find the biggest most exciting parts of Disney that we often miss some of the most beloved places. Soak these moments in. Look for the magic in each moment because I can tell you as a documentary photographer--most of the magic happens here with you.

I'd love to hear some of your favorite spots to take photos at Disney! Are there places that you find yourself gravitating towards? Are there places that you've discovered? I encourage you to take in the magic of Disney, but may it never take away you very own magic that is found in the little moments with your little ones.
